Emma Ryder, Production Assistant, Los Angeles, CA

“I took your PA course while I was interning at the Sacramento Film Office. After completing your PA course, I went to work on a feature film, No Address, that shot in Sacramento in 2023. The PA course definitely helped ease me into being on set. The course laid out real world examples and experiences that gave me insight into the production world and gave me more depth on it than what I learned from being in school. I am so grateful I got to take your course. As a green PA, you are just getting thrown into the fire and just must figure things out as you go, but going into my first gig with the PA course behind me, I felt more confident in my surroundings. Since No Address, I made dozens of connections with the local film community in Sacramento and the Bay Area. I've been on sets big and small, from features to docs, commercials and digital marketing videos. I love being on set and surrounded by hardworking, like minded people. I made sure to make good connections wherever I'd go, and was able to stay busy as a freelancer.”

D’Adonis Moquette, Director, Bay Area

“Kincade Productions helps you understand not only how to get into the industry but what attitude is best for success. As someone new to the film industry I have come to find that being armed with this video course has lifted the veil of the unspoken codes of conduct for the film industry and what is taboo. All of which has better prepared me for the reality of following my dream of filmmaking.”

Celine Nunally, Aspiring Film Maker, Sacramento, CA

“The Kincade Production course not only gave me all of the resources available to become a knowledgeable PA, but it also helped me find ways to stand out on set by working with enthusiasm while making connections and relationships with everyone on the production team. Completing this course allowed me to seamlessly transition from the shy PA in the back to the confident PA stepping to the front and working as if it were second nature. I strongly recommend this course to anyone who doesn't know where to begin their filmmaking journey so that they can have a clear glimpse of the industry all within the comfort of learning at your own pace. I have now successfully been a Production Assistant on two film sets and have recently been promoted to Production Coordinator, thanks to the knowledge and skills I gained and valuable insights from Kincade Productions.”

Jesse Hernandez, Certified SFPA Student, Sunnyside High School, Fresno, CA

“My first day on my first gig at Fresno becoming a PA I felt like I had a mini heart attack, you know? The course teaches on attitude very specific things that you have to do whatever you're asked to do even if it could be rough sometimes, because at the end of the day, it pays off. And so when I took this course, I kind of took that information and put that into what I would do in those situations. So when you're a PA, you kind of have to adapt to whatever situation they'll put you on. And so you gotta know a little bit of everything.  And so I think knowing a little bit of everything goes a long way.”

“Kincade Production’s How To Be A Successful Production Assistant Course is concise and easily digestible, allowing you to work at your own pace. Each section begins on a broader scale and becomes more specific as you progress. The amount of information per episode is manageable, and I don’t feel forced to retain everything at once. I appreciate the ability to watch the episodes in whatever order that suits my needs. Everything is clear, to the point, and well-organized.”

Micah J. Allen, Production Assistant, Bay Area

“I began my journey into film with a course on how to be a successful PA. Now, two years later I can say it has been quite the adventure, and I'm loving every minute of it. I've had the pleasure of working on many different kinds of sets, in various roles and learned a lot. I would have never imagined this line of work was possible! I've gotten to travel, see places, meet people from all over and work in an ever changing environment. I just had the greatest experience my life working on this set! I got to 1st AC and it was beautiful all the way around. The production team, the cast, the location, everyone involved! Learned a lot and it will be unforgettable. Met fantastic people and had an amazing time."

Eva Galen, Student USF

“I joined my Theater company as a stage manager and is where I met Mr. Clifton, my Broadcasting teacher. He encouraged me to help manage an event, and from there, I joined Art Venture, where I fell in love with the media. Mr. Clifton taught me skills like camera work, editing, and directing a Broadcasting team. The turning point came when I took Kincade Productions online program, which taught me about the film industry and the role of a Production Assistant (PA). This program reignited a flame and helped me find a passion for a career of media—something I never expected. I'm grateful to Mr. Clifton and Robin Kincade for guiding me to this new spark.”

Giuseppe Grassi, Writer/PA

“I just finished the first course in the "How to be a Successful Production Assistant" series, and I can't help but tell you right away how much this course is what I needed right now. Straight to the point, straight to the real things you need to know by clearly explaining the how, what, when, where and why you should or should not do that thing you may be thinking of doing on a set. So thank you not only for the specific knowledge I am learning, but more importantly for the touchstone that this course can become to understand what I have done right so far and what I have done wrong, thus having the opportunity to correct myself. Not only in terms of work, but also in terms of working relationships. I wish I had had this PA manual earlier, but I'm not complaining at all, I've got it now and I'm looking forward to continuing my education and using it to do the right thing.”

what industry professionals say

Laurie Pederson, Capital Film Arts Alliance, Sacramento, CA

CFAA working with Kincade Productions certified over 40 students for the Sacramento Market

“Everybody that came in the door today, I asked, ‘What did you think of the online course?’ Every single one of them said, ‘I thought it was great. I got so much good information out of it.’ We knew that we needed to build our workforce as we had a deficit of skill sets and experience in PA positions. I kept hearing the requests, the demand from our film commissioner, from other producers that they needed fully trained PAs. I had been introduced to the Kincade Production course and in working with that, in addition to adding some in-person speakers and some hands-on elements where attendees could actually handle the equipment and work with the professionals that are dealing with all the different things that create what a PA works with. I'm really interested to see what will happen beyond this, where the students are going to take what they learned, how they can apply it, and start climbing that ladder.”

I wish I had something like this when I was starting out as a Production Assistant. I was clueless in the beginning, just doing whatever I was ordered to do.  However, as a PA if you want to be valuable you need to be proactive and get things done without being asked.

For new people starting out, having a program like this available can help you hit the ground running on day one. That will help you feel more confident and get you more gigs. It can also help you move up the food chain a lot faster into whatever department you aspire too. If you’re new to the business and want to get a leg up in a short period of time, it is worth investing in a program like this that can help you do that.”

Luke Seerveld, Meet the gaffer

"I remember being in film school and getting some breaks to get on set and even travel, being shown the ropes and trained as a DOC/AC on an Aaton with a well-known documentary cameraman. I had no business being there, but the crew took me under their wing and I thrived. The main problem with people who are starting out is that they don't know what they don't know and in the film business there's so much to learn about how things work on a set. They just don't know about those things until they get on a live set. Love what you're doing... it's a service to all of us."

Blake Barnett, Producer Blare Media, Fresno, California

“Over the years we have received many requests from people looking to get started in the video/film industry but having someone on set for the first time can be a scary endeavor (For both of us). Nowadays, we outsource the training to the professionals at Kincade Productions via their online PA course and our only complaint is that this service was not offered sooner!”

The course is in-depth, thorough and well worth the small amount of money charged. We no longer have to hire/train a new PA from ground zero which helps make them much more ready to go on day one! Kincade Productions makes the intimidating task of being a PA on a film set much easier by providing all the tools, resources and knowledge that you need in order to effectively work on set. Highly recommended!!!
