So many Departments to explore

“Be a sponge, you know, learn as much as you can and be enthusiastic about learning that, because there are so many different aspects of our business.  You know, there’s the sound department, there’s the lighting department, there’s the camera department, there’s the art department, there’s actors, and there’s producers and sometimes post production people are on set for special effects shots.  There’s a lot to be learned.” Eli Adler, Director Of Photography

A Note from Robin…

I can honestly say that becoming a Production Assistant was the gateway to an adventurous life. Every job will test you — you’ll be the first to arrive and the last to leave, and yes, you’ll get exhausted. This role pushes you to your limits. But in the end, you walk away with something invaluable: firsthand experience on a set and the skills to work effectively with a team — the foundation for success in this industry.

Starting at the bottom rung of the ladder is actually a gift. It’s your chance to explore every department, learn hands-on, and discover where your passion truly lies. Over time, you become a dependable crew member with a career full of opportunity. Every job adds knowledge, nuance, and confidence — and yes, you get paid for it!

What’s life like as a PA? Be ready to pivot instantly, move quickly, then freeze for the next shot. You’ll fetch coffee and bagels, run errands, make copies, drive people, make signs, guard gear, and secure sets. You’ll absorb the ins and outs of a film set while meeting people who will guide and support you along the way.

To all future Film Production Assistants: here’s to you and the adventure ahead!
